Athiest Christmas Billboard

American Atheists are trying to get their message out this holiday season with a high-profile billboard on Route 495 near the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel. “You KNOW it’s a myth. This season, celebrate REASON!” appears on a picture of the 3 wise men heading toward a manger. The bottom of the billboard reads “American Atheists: Reasonable since 1963” and lists the organization’s website. What do you think? Sound off, New Jersey!

Governor Threatens to Kill ARC Project

The ARC tunnel project is intended to create two rail lines beneath the Hudson to connect New Jersey and New York City. Latest estimates have indicated that the project is running billions of dollars over budget by its expected completion in 2018. Despite additional budget coming from the Port Authority and federal government, Governor Christie threatened during the last few weeks that he would kill the project. His decision is expected soon. What do you think of this one, tunnel vision or fiscally responsible? Sound off, New Jersey.

Zuckerberg Grant to Newark Schools

Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he will be giving a $100 million grant to the Newark school system. Zuckerberg blogged "After a lot of research, I've decided to put my full support behind Newark Mayor Cory Booker and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to help their efforts to reform the schools in Newark. Is this praiseworthy philanthropy or a publicity stunt to off-set the soon-to-be-released Social Network movie that portrays him as a slimeball? We want to hear from you. Sound off, New Jersey!

Censoring Craigslist

Craigslist, founded in 1995 by New Jersey native Craig Newmark, has faced anti-prostitution criticism for years regarding its Adult Services section. Last year Craigslist succumbed to public pressure by changing the name of the section from "Erotic Services" to "Adult Services." Last month attorneys from 17 states cent the company a letter demanding that they shut down the section. This weekend Craigslist surprised everyone by replacing the link to the Adult Services section with a black "censored" box. Craigslist will not comment on whether this block is temporary or permanent. We want to hear from you. Sound off, New Jersey!

Race to the Top

During the last week, New Jersey has drawn national attention by failing to get $400 million in federal funding in the education reform competition Race to the Top. Jersey apparently lost critical points by submitting the wrong budget numbers on one page of the 1,000-page application. We are hearing from everyone in the country, but we want to hear from you. State Takeover of Atlantic City?

Last week a state commission pitched a 29-page plan for the state of New Jersey to take over Atlantic City's Casino district in an attempt to achieve the area's full potential after 32 years of legalized gambling. What do you think of this one? We want to hear from you. Sound off, New Jersey!

Privatizing New Jersey?

Governor Christie is considering plans for hiring for-profit companies in place of state employees. Last week a state task force presented the governor with a list of services that could be privatized in order to save more than an estimated $200 million a year. Such services would include state parks, psychiatric hospitals, NJ Turnpike toll booths, and preschool classrooms. We may be opening Pandora's box on this one, but we want to hear from you. Evening at the Premiere

The long-awaited Broadway premiere of If She Did It ended moments ago. The play, as you probably know, is based on the “fictionalized” story of a girl named Daphne Blain, better known as the Satin Strangler.

The show that was touted as a multimedia extravaganza of previously unseen proportions somehow exceeded all expectations. The dynamic interplay between newsreels and live video feeds was unparalleled. Many moments left theatergoers scratching their heads in disbelief.

We’d love to hear from anyone who saw the performance on Broadway, at a local movie theater, or through the live internet feeds. Sound off, New Jersey.

Amazing. Leopold The Great strikes again. This is his best ever. Nobody else leaves us mesmerized, trying to distinguish theater from reality. I have loved Broadway since I was a little kid, and this was the best show I've ever seen. It has the firepower of Les Miserables and the name-recognition of Amadeus, topped off with the multimedia wizardry that only Leopold can create. When the play opened with the presumed “live video” of the lawyer's office, the audience lurched back in synchronized horror. People were looking around as though there was actually a dead lawyer on the screen. It was brilliant.

I took my 14-year-old daughter to see it at the local theater tonight. She's a big Destiny fan. She has the posters on her wall and several autographed copies of the book. She even got the Satin Strangler doll for her birthday.

There were so many shocking moments in the play, especially the opening scene at the lawyer’s office. We are not sure why that scene was in there, but it was the one that had us talking all the way home. Everything else was consistent with the story of the Satin Strangler and fit within a plot.

I love the way they had everything playing on all the screens on stage. The documentary cameramen walking through the audience were a little distracting at first, but after a while they blended in with the set. We’re hoping to see ourselves in the movie, similar to how we looked in the live footage shown on the stage tonight.

OMG. It was incredible. At first when that lawyer appeared on the 20 foot screen, I jumped back and closed my eyes. Then I snuck a peek. I was like WTF. He looked totally dead. His face was all purple. How did they do that?

Unbelievable. I'm going again tomorrow. I agree. That dead lawyer was unreal.

How can anybody not love this stuff???

Governor Christie vs NJ Teachers

The battle between Chris Christie and the New Jersey Education Association has been raging since the governor proposed massive school funding cuts at his bidget address. He called on teachers from the state to accept a pay freeze. He then referred to the NJEA teachers union as the "bullies of State Street." The NJEA has since been firing back with protests and advertisements. Now we want to hear from you. Sound off, New Jersey!

Bergen Blue Law Brawl

Blue Laws prevent Bergen County stores from opening on Sunday. Such laws disappeared in most other locations in New Jersey decades ago, but Bergen County residents prevented the abolishment due to a desire to minimize local Sunday traffic. Facing financial chllenges, Governor Chris Christie has called for the lifting of the Bergen County Blue Laws in order to add $65 million in state taxes. We want to hear from everyone from Bergen to Cape May on this one. Sound off, New Jersey!

New Jersey Bear Hunt

New Jersey is yet again considering bringing back a hunt to help reduce the state’s growing bear population. Last week, the New Jersey Fish and Game Council voted unanimously to recommend a six-day bear hunt in December. The state environmental commissioner still must approve the plan. We want to hear from you. Sound off, New Jersey!

Pension Reform

New Jersey is attempting to reform its chronically underfunded pension system for public employees. This week the state Senate passed a package of reform measures. Proposed changes include capping unused sick time retirees can claim at retirement, limiting participation of part-time employees in the pension system, and requiring employees to contribute 1.5% of their salaries to health benefits. We want to hear from you now. Sound off, New Jersey!

Too Fat to Fly?

Red Bank native movie director Kevin Smith was told by a flight attendant that the captain of a Southwest Airlines flight determined that he was too obese and posed a safety risk. Smith, who had been able to fit in the seat with both arm rests down, then sent our a barrage of tweets to criticize the airline. We want to hear from you on this one. Sound off, New Jersey!
