Pension Reform

New Jersey is attempting to reform its chronically underfunded pension system for public employees. This week the state Senate passed a package of reform measures. Proposed changes include capping unused sick time retirees can claim at retirement, limiting participation of part-time employees in the pension system, and requiring employees to contribute 1.5% of their salaries to health benefits. Too Fat to Fly?

Red Bank native movie director Kevin Smith was told by a flight attendant that the captain of a Southwest Airlines flight determined that he was too obese and posed a safety risk. Smith, who had been able to fit in the seat with both arm rests down, then sent our a barrage of tweets to criticize the airline. We want to hear from you on this one. Sound off, New Jersey!
