Governor Vetoes Minimum Wage Increase

Today Governor Christie vetoed an increase in the minimum wage that was passed by the state senate.  Christie's conditional veto made provisions that he would sign the bill if certain changes were made, including limiting the increase to $8.25 instead of $8.50, phasing the increase in over three years, and eliminating a provision tying the wage to inflation.  There's been a lot of chatter about this one, so we know you'll have opinions.  Sound off, New Jersey!

No Hugging at NJ School

Principal Tyler Blackmore of Matawan Aberdeen Middle School announced today that hugging would be forbidden in the school. According to David Healy, Superintendent of Schools for the Matawan Aberdeen Regional School District, the brief announcement was prompted by “the excessive, observed and reported, welcomed and unwelcomed hugging or physical contact between students.” Students are confused, parents are upset. We want to hear from you. Sound off New Jersey!
